This newly published print is a companion and reciprocal view to an earlier painting of "Nootka." In this view, Captain Cook’s RESOLUTION and DISCOVERY can be seen entering Nootka Sound in golden late afternoon sun -from the perspective of the ocean view, looking into the land behind Friendly Cove. The first painting of Nootka, viewed the ships from the hillside overlooking this cove so that the ships appeared considerably smaller.
